5th - Jackson Pollock Inspired Watercolor

The first project of the school year was all about exploring the exciting world of art through the works of American painter Jackson Pollock! Pollock is famous for his unique and experimental abstract style that encourages freedom and creativity.

To kick off the project, students created their own "gravity lines" using pipettes and watered down paint. They could only tip and tilt their paper to move the paint around, which let them create a fun and spontaneous abstract picture without too much control.

After that, students dove into various watercolor painting techniques, including wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, dry-on-dry, and resist. Using these techniques, they painted new organic shapes with vibrant watercolors. The final result was a beautiful abstract painting that resembled the stunning effect of stained glass.

This project was a fantastic way for students to express themselves and discover their artistic talents!
