3rd - Chicago Skyline

Students explored the unique architecture and public art of Chicago, focusing on some of the city’s most iconic structures, including Cloud Gate (The Bean), the Willis Tower, and other landmarks.

After studying several examples of urban design, students sketched their own Chicago-inspired skyline, choosing which buildings and features to include in their composition.

For the background, students used watercolor paints to create a sky and lake scene, experimenting with blending and brush techniques. They then added reflections of city lights in the water using oil pastels, mimicking how lights shimmer at night across Lake Michigan.

This project encouraged creativity, decision-making, and a deeper appreciation of the architecture that defines the city's skyline.
