3rd - Hot Cocoa

Hot Cocoa Still-Life was a fun twist on a classic drawing skill. Students began by drawing a mug and concentrated on looking at the contour lines to really capture the shape. The goal was to improve their observational drawing skills. Next, they chose a color to paint their mug and colored in the hot cocoa with oil pastels. Then students created a background with a patterned wall and a textured table. The background was traced with crayons and painted with watercolors. The final step was to cut out the mug, collage it onto the background, and add a shadow.
