Graphic Novels

Students learned about the art of storytelling and authorship from local author, Leslie C Youngblood. After participating in a writing workshop with Youngblood, students began creating their own stories, inspired by individual experiences, cultural traditions, memories, and goals. After writing our stories, students learned how to visually communicate these stories through art. Using colored pencils, oil pastels, watercolor paint, collage, and more, students developed 9-panel graphic novels which were published and placed in our Gates Chili Library for the community to enjoy! Essential Questions: - How can authors tell a story? - How can artists show a story? - What stories are important to tell?
