Winter Penguins

In our art class, we had so much fun creating our Happy Paper Penguins! This exciting project was inspired by the book If You Were a Penguin by Wendell and Florence Minor, which helped us learn more about these amazing birds. We spent four 40-minute sessions making our penguins come to life with colorful backgrounds and fun decorations. First, we painted a beautiful backdrop using bright tempera paints, allowing our imaginations to run wild! Then, we drew and cut out icebergs to give our penguins a special home. Each student created their penguin using black, white, and orange paper, adding hats, scarves, and even some sparkly embellishments to make them unique. The best part was drizzling white paint to create snow, making our winter scene look magical! This project taught us all about shapes, forms, and collages while we worked together and shared our creativity. We can't wait to show off our Happy Paper Penguins in the classroom!
