Organic Shapes

In this exciting art lesson, first-grade students will explore the colorful world of Henri Matisse and learn about organic shapes. The session begins with a reading of "Matisse: The King of Color," allowing students to understand Matisse's use of color and organic shapes. They will then glue colorful paper squares onto black paper and use oil pastels to create patterns. Finally, students will cut or draw organic shapes from colored squares and glue them to complementary colors, creating their own unique art pieces.
