In this lesson, students will focus on line, shape and color as they draw, cut and assemble their own gemstone. Seemingly simple, yet eye-catching
illustrations are paired a sweet story about a rock’s journey to build self-confidence in the picture book "Hidden Gem" by Linda Liu. At first, rock marvels at all of the polished gems in the museum but then realizes that we all have beauty hidden within, making it a great book to share with students.
