SMS Virtual Art Fair, 6th Grade through 8th Grade, Class of 2020

6th Grade- Biomes with Henri Rousseau
Students discussed the life and artistic style of Henri Rousseau. They created a biome scene with color pencil, watercolor, and a touch of oil pastel. Students recognized and identified foreground, middle ground and background, to create value and depth. They were allowed to pick biomes, using the same concept of overlapping, color, shape, line, texture, pattern, and unity. The different biomes allowed their creativity to soar.

7th Grade- Crazy Color Portraits with Chuck Close
Students created a portrait of their choice and used monochromatic, analogous, and complementary colors in oil pastels to complete their composition. They translated value into color by adding Chuck Close’s style. They created a grid and developed the skills to enlarge a composition through the study of proportions. Or Watercolor Final’s

8th Grade- Optional-
Made at home, recess, or during the 8th-grade Art Exploratory Class. Masterpieces shared for all to see.
