SMS Virtual Art Fair, 2nd Grade through 4th Grade, Class of 2020

2nd Grade- Flowers with Georgia O’ Keefe
Students observed shapes and lines that made up a flower. Students looked at the artist Georgia O’ Keeffe and made their own magnified flowers with oil pastel by adding bright colors and texture.

3rd Grade- Hymns of Animals with Noah’s Ark
Students chose a favorite animal as a project for Blessing of the Animals and Art Fair. After applying many layers of colored pencil they used oil pastel to finish their backgrounds for texture.

4th Grade- Vanishing Point Perspective with Mrs. Mercado
Students created a picture utilizing a Vanishing Point. They learned the key elements of One Point Perspective where all the horizontal lines go straight across, while the lines that move away from us - the sides of boxes, the road we are on, or the railway lines in front of us - all converge towards the center of the picture. Students used colored pencils in layers and other elements of design to create texture with the use of oil pastel, baby oil, or acrylic paint if needed.
