INTRO: During this project, students were introduced the continuous line drawing technique. This type of drawing is made without ever lifting the pen from the paper. This technique encourages outlines and internal shapes, as well as the doubling of lines back on each other so that the drawing is one free-flowing, unbroken line. This drawing method develops confidence and drawing speed, and encourages your eyes and hand and brain to work together. Students were introduced to this technique by viewing continuous line drawings of a face, horse and Jasper John's "0 through 9" drawing and painting.

PROJECT: Students were lead through a step-by-step demonstration on how to draw a continuous line owl. They were able to add many variations to the owl using a variety of line styles to create their own unique picture. They drew their owl first with a sharpie and then colored in their owl as they wished with markers.
