In this project, students were taught about symmetry, composition and what a "relief" is in the art world. A relief is a three-dimensional sculpture that's attached to a flat surface.
In the first step of the project, students used a variety of artists tools to create an abstract background.
The second step of the project was to cut cardboard tubes (toilet paper roles) into thin strips and manipulate them into a variety of shapes and glue them onto paper. Symmetry, composition and using the entire space when creating their designs was taught.
