Ceramic Deconstructed Fish

Students created a unique fish drawing to carve on a slab of clay.  A slab is a flat piece of clay.  Students used various found objects and texture tools to create texture patterns on their clay fish.  They “deconstructed” their fish by cutting it into sections.  The fish pieces were bisque fired (fired for the first time) in the kiln.  The pieces were then painted with black paint and oil pastel was applied on top of the paint to emphasize the textures on the fish.  The fish was put back together with wire, beads and string for display.
