Students in first grade read Peter H. Reynolds' children's book: "Sky Color," and used this text as inspiration for their artworks. Just before the closure, students were given the opporunity to explore and discover a new medium of painting: Bleeding Tissue Paper. Bleeding tissue paper is a wonderfully fun and engaging (albeit, sometimes messy!) painting technique where the color dye from bright tissue papers is "bled" or "diluted" by painting with water on top of the sheets of tissue. This causes the dye to run onto the white artwork papers below, creating vibrant and visually impactful color schemes! Using "Sky Color" as inspiration, we left the "sky is blue" notion in the past, and used this engaging and new technique to create our own "sky colors" for our landscape artworks, Dandelion Wishes!
