2nd grade warm leaves, cool skies (Glickstein)

2nd grade read the book Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf by Lois Ehlert and watched a short story on why leaves change colors in the fall. They studied the colors in leaves that were in the process of changing. Then we started our project. The children painted their leaves in warm colors against a cool color sky. Then added details so the leaves had some added interest. They also learned about drawing organic shapes, which are those found in nature.
