The students learned about Australian Aboriginal Dot Art. Aboriginal culture dates back as far as 60,000 years, possibly longer. This is when Aboriginal people first settled in what is now known as Australia. There is no written language for Aboriginal people. The way they convey their important cultural stories through the generations, it is portrayed by symbols and icons through their artwork. Indigenous art is centered on storytelling. The interpretations of the symbol differ depending on the audience. Students used their hand because it is a symbol of belonging in the Aboriginal culture. Then, they added their own symbols, some original to them, some aboriginal in nature and used neon paint recreate the iconic Aboriginal Dot style.
