Soft Pastels Farmland Landscape in One-Point Perspective

Students created a farmland landscape with a horizon line in one-point perspective.  In one-point perspective, vertical lines converge on a point.  One-point perspective allows the artist to create the illusion of three-dimensional depth in a two-dimensional space.  Students began the piece by drawing in black marker, creating a road, hillsides, farm fields, trees, bushes, a fence, and a barn. Then students colored the piece using soft pastels and blending at least two colors of soft pastel per area, blending the colors together with their finger or by coloring one pastel on top of another.  Students were asked to color in the whole page, which was a very large 18"x24" sheet of white paper.
