Our kindergarten students had a blast creating these adorable shape snowmen to decorate the hallway! It was a perfect winter activity to reinforce their learning about basic shapes. Each snowman has a body made out of a different shape cut from white paper - some have a triangle body, others a square, circle or rectangle. The kids used their creativity to turn these simple shapes into charming snowmen. To add some colorful flair and make their snowmen pop off the wall, they traced the edges with oil pastels in bright colors. This also gave them great fine motor practice as they carefully controlled the oil pastels. No snowman is complete without accessories, so the children drew cute faces and cut out little hats and scarves from construction paper to adorn their shape snowmen. Assembling the final snowmen was an exciting step as the kindergarteners' handiwork came together into delightful hallway art. Projects like this engage the children's imagination while also subtly developing key skills - a winning combination!
