The 5th grade created this charming and imaginative display of artwork. As part of a recent lesson on perspective and point of view in art, the children were tasked with illustrating snowmen as seen from a bird's eye view, gazing down from high above. The results are delightful - dozens of top-down drawings of jaunty snowmen, complete with coal eyes, carrot noses, and sticks for arms. But these aren't just any snowmen sketches. The students took the project a step further by thoughtfully incorporating the concepts of light and shadow into their pieces. Notice how they used shading to suggest the sun shining down from one direction, casting shadows across the snow. It's wonderful to see the students not only grasping these artistic principles, but using their creativity to apply them in such an engaging way. The whimsical snowmen put a smile on the face of everyone who passes by, while showcasing the impressive skills and imagination of our hard-working 5th grade artists. Bravo to the students on a successful, educational and fun project!
