4C Winter Solstice Colors!

There was a very quick review of how different cultures celebrate with light at this dark time of year. This class REALLY enjoyed this quick comparison between the winter and summer solstice in the very northern latitude of Tromsø, Norway: https://youtu.be/XNiX1kZhd5c?si=kaFaaKwiczqCfQas The artists used silver Sharpie on black paper to create a winter solstice scene. They had as inspiration various ways that different cultures represent the sun, and created their own. They had the option of using metallic colored pencils to add detail, then ended with using chalk pastels in a new way, to add Northern Lights. The chalk surprises were loved by all, and the children left feeling proud of their art! I hope that you love them!
