Biography

When I was about 4 years old I remember drawing a cowboy for my mom and my aunt Jean. I started at the bottom of the page and ran out of room so that the cowboy's face was cut off just above the nose. Despite my goof, my mom and aunt raved about it and told me I had a good imagination. It was then that I discovered a gift and felt like I was good at drawing. Now, as an elementary Art teacher I love to help my students discover their gift in making art to whatever degree they possess it. I believe that the ability to create works of art is something everyone can learn to do, just like any other subject, and like other subjects it takes hard work to succeed. My goal is to instill a love of art and the determination required to be successful in my students. I am thankful to teach at my alma mater, Oneida Schools, and am proud that my school is committed to the arts. I also very much appreciate the administration for supporting art education. It is a great privilege to work with Mary Ross as well. She is a gifted artist and an even better art teacher. I encourage all students and parents at Oneida to support our art program through Artsonia.
