Students were introduced to the artist and illustrator Maurice Sendak and his work, “Where the Wild Things Are”. We sketched three ideas for our monster focusing on composition and filling the space well. After choosing their favorite design, students used sharpies and markers with their best craftsmanship to add color and visual interest.
