After looking at macro images and examples of artist, Georgia O'keefe's work, students will use their eyes like a macro lens to create an artpiece of a small subject depicted in a large, zoomed in close-up composition. Students should fill their paper with the subject for an extreme close-up effect, leaving no "background." Students will use oil pastels to create blended color with light and dark values to create depth. Students will choose a main color for their subject plus two lighter colors (one should probably be white) and two darker colors to blend for values. For a painterly effect students can experiment with blending small amounts of baby oil into the oil pastel using a stiff bristled brush or a Q-tip.
