Ward 2022-2023 Art Showcase

Our Ward Stars have grown so much this year! We studied the elements of art (color, line, shape...). We studied artists like Alma Woodsey Thomas, Bisa Butler, Faith Ringgold, and Chuck Close. As a school we did a joint unit on Wayne Thiebaud and used his fun dessert paintings to inspire a variety of 3D works: Prek & Kinder created model magic lollipops, 1st made model magic ice cream, 2nd & 3rd created towering paper mache ice cream cones, 4th learned to sew and created felt poptarts, 5th made containers from clay shaped like various foods. We had several students showcase art for the following district and city wide displays: Imagination Celebration, CCISD Holiday Card, CCEF Kinder Art, 3rd Grade Rodeo Creativity Contest, and Houston Dog show.
