4th Grade Self Portrait

Our 4th grade artists began by taking selfies with an iPad. After printing them, we placed transparent film over the photos and used permanent markers to carefully trace the details of our faces. While tracing, we paid close attention to shadows and movement to create bold, graphic images with a realistic touch.
Next, we added color with acrylic markers. The colors weren’t just decoration—they were chosen to help tell our stories. Many students even included short narratives to support the meaning behind their art.
We had so much fun creating these pieces, and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do!
