Students learned how to mix tints and shades of gray. First we started by drawing a snowman with a scarf and hat. We divided the snowman into 5 sections using a curved line to create form. We created several values for the snowman's body. Then we chose a color and created tints and shades for the brim of the hat and scarf. Tints are made with white and shades are made with black. The hat color is a tone because it has both white and black. The background is a fun mixture of Metallic Kwik Stix, tints of blue and white paint splattered to look like snow. Our snowman's details were added with Sharpie and construction paper crayons.
