1st Grade Abstract Paintings

First grade students explored drawing tools and techniques from the Drawing Center to begin their abstract paintings using. They used pencils, Sharpies and oil pastels and were offered a variety of shapes and stencils to incorporate into their designs. Then students explored a crayon resist paint technique using oil pastels and tempera paints. Students learned how to apply paint to their paper with variety of brush sizes as well as learning about paintbrush care.
