Students spent 10 days on their value drawing project, and I am so proud of their finished artworks! To prepare for the project, they studied and practiced the five different value techniques - hatching, cross hatching, stippling, scumbling, and blending- using graphite and colored pencils. Then, we worked hard to learn and practice what a light source, highlight, and shadow are, and how using these make drawings look more realistic. In the planning stage, they needed to decide on a subject, a value technique, color scheme, values, a challenge, and they wrote two criteria for their final project. Afterwards, they practiced their drawing ideas in their bell work before finalizing their ideas on their project paper. I am so incredibly impressed by every student's ability to complete this difficult plan!
