A Whale of a Time/Jonah

Studying Jonah. In art and culture the creature that swallowed Jonah is often depicted as a whale. In Hebrew the text actually just says "large fish". 2Kings 14:25 and the book of Jonah. Using the technique of blending with oil pastels students use light pressure to gently rub the surface with their finger. This will add detail, soften lines and improve textures. Teacher demonstrated transfer technique from oil pastel paper flipped over and placed on top of cut out whale with pencil students used pressure to push pencil designs into pastel back to transfer to whale. Whale was done with a guided draw discussing shapes, and lines to draw.
