2020-2021 School Artwork

Dorothy J. Vaughan Scholars love being creative and inventive, wherever they are, just like Jean Michel Basquiat! Whether they are learning through virtual classrooms, or at their grandparents' houses, or at our school home DJV, our scholars try their best and love to show their work! Some of our favorite artists to study include Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Alma Thomas, Jacob Lawrence, Kara Walker, Kehinde Wiley, and Romare Bearden. 

On Thursdays, scholars participate in Thursday Learnday! -a day to learn about and incorporate computer technology into art. We already know what circuits are and we are practicing the binary number system. Next we are going to create artwork out of circuits and small LED lights! Our favorite subject to learn about is NASA- we love to enter art challenges together.
