Line Showcase

This Art Showcase is all about LINES! Students learned that a line is simply the path of a moving dot and can vary in direction and thickness. Lines are one of the basic elements of art. Students learned that there are many kinds of lines: straight, wavy, bumpy, curly, zig-zag, & spiral. They even learned directional words like horizontal, vertical, & diagonal! First and Second graders learned about the famous artist, Alma Thomas, during this time and used some of her artwork for inspiration. She is known for the way she used lines in her abstract paintings.

*Fun Fact* Alma Thomas is the first African American female artist to have a painting hanging in the White House!
