Ian, The first thing we thought about when we saw your choice of complimentary colors was the school colors of your dad and aunt. In NY their team colors were purple and gold. We don't always think that such opposite colors go together, but they do in a very special way. This is good to remember not just for art but for other things that you might wonder if it looks good together--maybe clothes, flowers, or even room colors. It is fun to have fun with color. It makes us smile and see the world differently at times. Keep up your good works.

Ian, Your art work reminds me of the Christmas candles in the windows reflecting whatever the color of the light bulb happened to be. This looks like a section of a stained glass window with a candle shining outward for all to see. Most of the time the candles in windows reflect white, but I have also seen red and green. Very pretty especially at this season when grey skies bring rain or snow. Light lifts our spirits. Thank you.

Ian, You did a great job on this art project. When I first looked at it, I was reminded of a hockey goalie's mask up against the net. The mask is angular and very intimidating to the opposing team. I can image that this could be the only thing they see as they approach wondering which way to fire the puck. Good job suspending the mask in the air.

Oh My!!!! We hope this is a friendly creature. It reminds us of the snakes that we have seen around our neighborhood, but most of them are black. They are coming out onto the roads to get dry from all the rain we have had. Nanna doesn't know all the markings to tell whether they are the good kind or the bad kind---We just stay on the alert especially when we are walking. This is important for you to learn also and maybe this art piece will make you curious to start leaning the markings of some of the wiggly things around. Hugs

Ian, When BaPa and I were growing up in Florida and when we lived by the ocean in South Carolina, we saw jelly fish washed up on the beach and we could really see all the details of the insides of them. When we would go swimming, we did not want to be near them in the water because the could touch your skin and sting and cause a lot of itching. :-( The ocean is full of wonderful little fish and bigger fish, the sea weed, and the pebbles in the sand. Your brought back some good memories to us and I can't wait until we are at the beach together soon. Hugs

Ian, When the trees have dropped their leaves and are on a rest season from flowering, you can see the strength of the tree because you can see the structure so well. As it has a good root system and is firmly grounded it is secure to continue to do the work God created it to do. You can also see so much that is hidden when it is all leaved out. BaPa and I were driving yesterday and saw so many wonderful things--a hawk at the top of a tree looking for prey, a squirrel's nest way up high, and mistletoe that someone might like to climb to get so they get a special kiss over Christmas. You might see some of the same things as you look up---much to be discovered--keep your eyes open. Hugs

Ian, Fall is just about over and Winter is not far behind. Our trees look like the one in your silhouette. We see the birds flying in formation heading south too. You captured the events of this seasonal change very well. It's time to bundle up and keep warm. Love you.

BaPa and I grew up in Florida and when the rockets blasted up into space from Cape Canaveral we would go to the beach and see the smoke streamers in the sky. It was an exciting time and your painting must be what the astronauts saw as the orbited the earth. What an amazing world we live in, on earth and above.

When I was a little girl and went on vacations in the mountains we children loved to catch lightning bugs in class jars just as your picture shows. We poked holes in the lid and kept the bugs buzzing around for a little bit and then let them go back into the night to light the world again. Even now as spring time is moving into summer time, Nanna still looks out into our back yard just waiting to see the very first lightning bugs fly by with their little flash of light. It brings back many memories of such carefree nights filled with fun and wonderment. Love your pictures that bring us back to the days when we were your age.

Ian, Nanna doesn't ususally like bugs, but this bug is loved because I love my grandson who designed it. You made it perfectly alike on each side and you know how much Nanna loves symmetry. I remember the school lesson we did together at our home one vacation and you found many things about Nanna's house that were symmetrical(windows, stars on our fireplace mantel, and even a Christmas tree on each side of the fireplace. Nanna loves all things balanced:-) HUGS

Ian what great work you are doing. Such creativity! If your mom and dad type in your last name in the computer, you will find that there have been many artists in the past with our same last name. I wonder if they were doing such great work as you've done at such an early age. Nana says have a "great eye" for you work.

You are created and cut from God's hand and He has framed you to be unique and one of a kind just like your art work. You are loved and very special to us---our only grandson. WOW, what an honor. Hugs

Ian--your dragon looks like something I might see when I travel to Japan with Nana Kay to see her family stationed near Tokyothis April. There might be dragon figures at the entrances to some of the parks or temples around the country that we might see while touring. I'll let you know if any looked like the one you drew. Love Nanna

Our weather is cool and damp right now and your picture of a warm mug of maybe hot chocolate is making me want to make something warm for myself right now to drink. A warm mug is soothing just as you hold it in your hands. I'm ready to put my kettle on and listen for it to whistle telling me the water is hot and ready for me to make my warm drink. YUM

BaPa and I might have snow tonight and tomorrow in South Carolina. WOW!!! It is always pretty to look at, but I don't think we'll have enough to build a cute snowman like your jolly fellow. Love your snowman. He made me smile just thinking about our "maybe" snow event.

This artwork is what the celebration of New Year's could have looked like over some of our BIG cities as people watched from their high rise buildings. The fireworks even sparkle and glow. A great work to start our New Year

We love the island peeking up on the horizon with the trees leaning from the wind and the dolphin jumping near the coast. Your variation of colors in the water and the sky looks exactly like what it looks like as you are out on the ocean in a boat at sunset. Beautiful and peaceful picture. Love BaPa (Ed) and Nanna

You are having so many opportunities to learn many things about art and to use many different coloring and painting supplies. You are doing great work with your shading and designs. I can think of many things you might have been imagining as you listened to the music as I look at your picture. What I see most is that you had fun. Keep up your good works. BaPa & Nanna

Ian, When BaPa and Nanna lived in Florida, we had many canals that had water lillies in them and they were very pretty when they were all in bloom. You have such pretty colors in your flower and it helped me remember some of the things that were special around us as we grew up.

This is what some of our leaves are beginning to look like as the Fall season has begun. They have lost their moisture and are nubby and wrinkled looking as they turn brown. Your drawing looks very real. I could reach out and touch it and it would crinkle in my hands just like what would happen if BaPa and I went out in our yard and picked a leaf off our trees. Great job with such a real look and texture. BaPa (ED) and Nanna

Your "alien" is different for sure. I'm glad it likes bright colors, but I wonder if it is friendly. Does it like "earthlings"?? You are very creative in letting us see what your imagination sees. We love you BaPa & Nanna (Ed)

Your art work reminds us of the sunsets over the lake and red clay here in South Carolina. It is so special since Fall is in the air and orange is a great Fall color we will see more of soon. We love you. Keep up your great work. BaPa & Nanna
