One of my favorite birds! I love this scene- a hungry cardinal in the snow looking for a sunflower blue seed. The colors you used for this composition are fantastic! That black tree dominates the background and initially looks scary to me with all those twisted limbs and bent trunk, but then you skillfully put the soft white snowflakes all around it and the winter sun shines through. The deep blue color is very vibrant and I especially like the variation of color you used in the blue background and blueish snowflakes. Just like nature, you have a variation in all those things. Everythnig is different if you look at it close enough and by using slightly different colors, you make that difference obvious. So I think the upper half of the picture is really super. That large cardinal really makes a bold statement. Even though it's cold with little food to be found, here is your subject working hard just to find something to eat. Reminds me of you- when the going gets tough, you get going! The tiny footprints in the snow add an element of realism to the entire image. That's exactly what I'd expect to see if this were outside. That cone on the top of the cardinals head is cool- real cool. Not a regular shape, but a cool shape.

Grannie would have LOVED this picture of a roster, you may remember how much she loved chickens and rosters. The various colors are especially pleasing. The pink background really highlights the roster and I especially like the vertical lines of oink on the left and the horizonal lines over the back of the roster. That effect gave the picture more depth to me. But my all time favorite is the bright green you chose to use at the base of the roster's tail. The only place you used it. Magnificent! The way you did those numerous colors on the rosters chest is fascinating- how did you get that texture. The bright reds you used on the roster's cone, lower eye, last tail feather, wing, and ground under the roster really tie together the entire composition. This picture really LOOKS LIKE a happy roster doing what posters like to do best- crow as loud as they can early in the morning! Just look at him- belting out that song as loud as he can. Thank You for morning is here! Wake up! Get going- the world is alive and moving, don't miss it!

I knew what this was about as soon as I saw it- you playing "boxes" with someone. The score is tried with your hot pinks versus the greenish yellows. Just like the boxes we make when we play- some are small and some are large. The X's and O's around the border are for the other game we often play- tic tac toe.

I love the way you use color and lines in this piece of work. First thing I see is four vertical images- but that first one is very interesting- that line alone is not straight. It curves around that D letter. And that D letter has two colors, really three colors- blue, pink and red. I found that interesting. What was the most interesting was the story you told. You have 3 children in your family- yourself and two brothers- Porter Rex and Benett. So, you put that big 3 right on top, with P for Porter and B for Benett next to the number, but then you put your GOLDEN J for Juliette. I liked that. I also liked the fern in the top left corner. It reminded me of the nature trips your three make outside looking for leaves and doodlebug and snakes and other things. I thought maybe the four was for the four of us when we go on such trips. It took me a long time to realize what the big D and the little D stood for. Finally I realized it stood for our favorite saying together- Do the good things, don't do the bad things. Brilliant. The big D is for the good things, the little d is for the bad things. How clever! Keep up the good work!

The MOST AMAZING picture of a pumpkin ever drawn! It is obvious to me that you have seen and explored both the outside and inside of this Halloween classic symbol. The rich orange outside color immediately told me what I was looking at- nothing else has that color and those lines. I especially liked the blackened image on the right side- every real pumpkin has a blemish somewhere. Only pretend pumpkins are perfect but your pumpkin looks like a real one. The inside of the pumpkin was the most fascinating thing to me. Everybody draws the outside for Halloween- but only you revealed the heart of the veggie. So many seeds, big and small, just like a real pumpkin. This reminds me of you most- you look at the outside and at the inside of a person- their heart, to get to know them. I love that about you. Finally, and I almost missed it, was the little green stem. I almost missed it but you didn't- put put it right on top of the inside, the heart of the pumpkin. You recognize that a pumpkin is not alone- it is part of a larger plant with a vine and leaves, the pumpkin is fed by the plant until complete, but it still has a stem to remind it of its source. What a wonderful picture of a pumpkin, it shows how observant you are to all the details of an object- or a person. Well done.

Well I can guess the significance of some of these letters and numbers but not all of them! I can't wait to hear what the others represent!

WOW!-those eyes! I wonder what this cat was looking at. One very big and the other smaller immediately makes me wonder what is going on. I can't stop looking at this cat! At the mouth looks just as surprised. I like how you can express such emotion in a simple drawing. The light blue color around a yellow pupil is very attention grasping. It's the first thing a person sees when looking at your picture. Those EYES! However, my favorite technique that you used was the short red lines all around the face. It gave the sense of a cat's fur and also added to the emotions of the cat. I love the one little red line in the middle of the nose! Those whiskers are perfect! Just the right length- not too long or too short. The way they stick out straight adds to the excitement of the cat. Three close together on one side and three equally separated on the other side was brilliant. And the three closest together are on the side of the BIG EYE. I'm a Paul Klee Fan and I think he would be happy to see this drawing inspired by his work. I'll show you more of his paintings when you come to my house. Another great picture...but where's your name. Remember the DOT- now sign it!

Juliette this reminded me of the snowman we made the last time it snowed in Dallas. I especially like you numerous snowflakes- just like real ones! What is that spectacular yellow star on the right. Seemed too small for the sun. I also like the red scarf and eyes and feet on the snowman. so what are all the green things around the snowman...it makes your painting a little mysterious and keeps me thinking about it. Keep up the good work. Love Gee

Juliette- how clever you are! You used a bunch of smaller triangles to make a large triangle! I especially like the deep black background- it draws my attention toyour picture in the center and also makes me think deeply- like- what are there triangles all about. I thought of the large green triangle on the bottom as the green earth, the smaller blue triangle on the top as the sky, and your favorite color pink as love on the earth. Keep up the great work! Gee

Another Masterpiece Juliette! The very first thing I saw was that beautifyl smile- it reminded me of you(but you don't have a yellow and pink face!). Next I noticed that each letter in your name was in a separate little circle of its own paint. I liked that! It was unique and clever. I like the orange, purple and pink together on the blouse- don't see that too often. The blue ears were a nice feature. I also liked how you framed the entire picture with the black dots to create a picture within your picture. Very original indeed. Keep up the good work

Juliette- this is your best yet! I love it! That little girl under the covers is so cute. Her hair all combed, with a big smile- I do wonder how she will go to sleep with her eyes wide open and then I wondered if she just woke up! Good Morning! I also liked the picture above the bed- all the different smiley faces! That fancy gold frames really added to the picture. You did a perfect job on that corner. A vertical line going straight up. Yes- that's just what a corner looks like. Just one thing is missing...your name!

I love the splash of color and shapes in your picture. It makes my eyes move all around looking at everything. I especially like the arrangement of dots around the middle blue dots and below around the green objects. My favorite is the bright yellow with the pink top and the two red sticks alongside. I wondered about that little red dot next to the left stick sitting there all alone. That little yellow object on the right just inside the circle of dots had me wondering. Lots to think about looking at this marvelous painting. Keep up the good work!

Wow! This collage really caught my attention! Its hard for me to say whether its the numerous colors or the various shapes that appeals to me the most. Its the combination of both. That big black image with the red and yellow on top was over-powering, but then the little green triangle and pink and blue with black bottom called out to me- look at me too! I liked that some shapes were very normal- the red rectangles, green and pink triangle- but then you had alongside those shapes the bright gold half-circles, and the very irregular blue and black shapes on the bottom. Very intriguing...keep up the good work!
