Concept development quite a bit more complex in this piece. I appreciate the value you put into your artist statement. You used several thoughts that could touch a wide range of viewers. The rendering of your hands and shadows is done well. I'm not sure the stark black, at the corner of the eye, adds to the piece. It seems to detract from the area that you put meaning into. If you were to put black on the piece, and it wasn't included into your subject, I might advise you also use it in your lashes. Study the form of the human eyebrow, and how it relates to the position of the eye. -- Dollie

Nice graphic quality. Like the use of the entire page, and utilization of the rule of thirds. Good to not have the entire focus right in the middle of the page. A good clear concept! -- Dollie

I told students that they may use no fewer than three and no more than five different colors, but I didn't tell them which colors to choose. Because Amelia chose the three primary colors, she has a very striking composition, and as an added benefit, it not only evokes Picasso, but Miro and Mondrian too. This kid has some innate design instincts.

I really appreciate how much effort Amelia put into this. She has a lot of detail in her first bow and her third bow proves that she understands the concept of deconstruction. Her second bow could actually be simpler. Amelia loves bows and wears one almost every day.

I've overheard a lot of comments on your artwork, Amelia. I really like how you drew the two flags behind your head in the depiction quadrant, most others have either blank or single-color backgrounds.
