Justin: Uncle Harry and I enjoyed viewing your drawing of the Greek pottery. We looked at a website the described the various designs and patterns painted on the pottery. Your artwork showed a good use of various colors and designs. An article we read on line indicated that over 100,000 pieces of Greek pottery have been found! We hope you enjoyed making this drawing. Hi Justin: Your drawing of a hot air balloon reminds me that I have never taken a ride up in the sky in a hot air balloon. I did not realize that once you are up in the air in the balloon, there is no steering mechanism for a person to use to direct the balloon! I did find a website with many pictures of hot air balloons, all of which were very colorful. You certainly were aware of this, as you have used many colors to depict the balloon. Hi Justin: I enjoy your paintings, not only for the color and composition, but for the fact that they make me do some investigation into the artist you have been studying. I can see that you followed the artist, Matisse's use of many colors in your painting. I think that you thought about the colors and style of this picture, before you painted it. Justin: It certainly is time for snow and red cardinals! Their brightness stands out in the white snow. Uncle Harry & I just visited the Botannical Gardens, and their gift shop was selling little cardinal ornaments made of red straw material. I purchased one and it sits on our Christmas Tree. Every time I look at the ornament on the tree, I think of your lovely painting of the cardinals sitting on a tree branch. It is very interesting to me that birds tend to sit together on tree branches, just as you portrayed in your painting.
