I love how you chose a photo from Homecoming week. This is a technically strong drawing. I would've liked to have seen you use some more shading and modeling, but we'll cover that more in Drawing II if you take it. Nice job on the hair too, but it looks like you forgot to draw yourself shoulders. Have a great Summer Danika, it was great having you in class this year.
Wow. 30-40 years before Surrealism was invented, back in 1878, French artist Odilon Redon drew an "Eye-Balloon." You can see it at https://www.moma.org/collection/works/33013, I think your is much prettier and less spooky, You found a gorgeous blue for your sky and did an incredible job of painting it smooth and even. The way you varied the blues in the iris makes it look more real. This really feels like it's staring at us without feeling too threatening. Love it.
Awesome! Not only was this Expressionism- you created a Surrealist painting before I taught you about Surrealism. Very powerful image. And you reflection makes it clear that it was well thought out & well planned too.
