I started teaching in West York in 2005, as a long term substitute and concluded the year earning a full time position as the elementary K-5 art specialist. I have always had a passion and love for the arts and their ability to allow students to show talents that are sometimes overlooked. During my junior year in high school my love for art took a turn towards passion when I was selected to attend the prestigious Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts. It was the most amazing experience I've had, aside ... read more from the birth of my son, and wedding my husband and best friend in Jamaica. I was able to spend 5 weeks completely immersed in all of the fine arts from music, theater, dance, and visual arts. From my experience at PGSA, I attended Tyler School of Art, Temple University in Philadelphia. While studying at Tyler, I took courses in sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, glass blowing, ceramics, textiles, graphic arts, and illustration. My studies allowed me the unique opportunity to study abroad and live out my dream of a semester in Rome, Italy within a stones throw of the Vatican City. Following my travels in Rome, I returned to the states to finish out my student teaching career in the Philadelphia Area School District, at Samuel Fels High School. My career has lead me to York, Pa in the West York Area School District where I now teach and call home. I live with my husband, step-daughter, son, two dogs, and two cats. I love spending time outside, traveling during the summer, and having fun with my family swimming at the Lincolnway Pool. While living in WY I've shared some of my talents at both Lincolnway/Green Valley Swimming Pools painting various murals. I enjoy the opportunities to share my talents with my students and those within the community where I teach!
