Tiffany Loucks
I am Tiffany Loucks, and I've proudly served as the Art Specialist at West York since 2005. My passion for teaching art is driven by the belief that it offers a vital platform for every student to express unique talents and build confidence.
My own artistic journey truly ignited during my junior year of high school when I was selected to attend the Pennsylvania Governor's School for the Arts (PGSA). This was a five-week, life-changing immersion in music, theater, dance, and visual arts that set my creati ... read moreve path. I went on to the renowned Tyler School of Art at Temple University in Philadelphia, where my coursework was an intensive exploration of diverse media, from sculpture to glassblowing. One of my most inspiring experiences was studying abroad for a semester in Rome, Italy.
I am deeply committed to the West York community, where I now live with my loving husband and our son, along with our two beautiful Boxer dogs, Becky and Larry. My creativity often extends beyond the classroom; I've had the pleasure of contributing to the community by painting vibrant murals at the Lincolnway and Green Valley swimming pools.
I love having fun with my classes and sharing a bit about myself, including my enduring passion for the Philadelphia Eagles, which started years ago while I was attending college in the city. To show my spirit, I've even painted my vehicle the notable Kelly Green! Many students are happy to tell me they've seen me out and about, a wonderful reminder of the close-knit community we share.
In my classroom, I emphasize that art is about practice, persistence, and continuous growth. I teach my students that true skill is built through dedicated effort, not innate perfection. My philosophy is to cultivate a 'strive-to-grow' mindset, helping students realize that art, like any important endeavor, takes work, editing, and resilience. I believe that when students embrace this challenge, art truly becomes transformative—it builds the perseverance needed not just for creative projects, but for success well beyond the classroom walls. I strive to be one of the reasons my students are excited to come to school every morning.
Now in my 20+ years of teaching, my mission remains strong: to cultivate an inspiring, vibrant classroom environment that actively fosters a high level of creativity. My focus is on providing students with a solid artistic foundation, exposing them to diverse styles and materials, and enthusiastically encouraging them to express their most authentic selves through creative discovery.
