I graduated from Appalachian State University with a double major in Art Marketing/Production and Art Education. I am certified to teach K-12th grade visual art. I began my teaching career in Darlington, SC in a public middle school. After I had my first child, I decided to leave teaching full-time. During the next nine years as a stay-at-home mom, I had many opportunities to continue to teach. I directed an arts summer camp for several years. I also taught study skills and was an academic therapist for a l ... read moreocal learning center, where I worked with children with learning disabilities. Shortly after our family moved to Charlotte, my husband and I started a small private school. I began teaching at Queen's Grant as a fourth grade classroom teacher in 2004. The following year, I accepted the full-time art position at Queen's Grant. I have had the opportunity to teach almost every subject, but art is my favorite! It is definitely something I am passionate about. I hope to excite each student at Queen's Grant about art, allow them opportunities to explore different tools and techniques, expose them to many new artists, and help them to see the world through the observant eyes of an artist.
