Vanessa Goslin
My name is Vanessa Corrigan. I am the art teacher at the Putnam County Junior High and High School. I've been interested in art my whole life. I always knew that I would end up having a career in the arts. After graduating from Mendota High School in 1998, I moved to Phoenix, Arizona where I began studying Computer Animation at the Art Institute of Phoenix. Upon graduation from AIPX, I moved back to Mendota, Illinois. Eventually, I began working at the NewsTribune in LaSalle as a graphic designer. The ... read morere I learned many computer programs, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and many others. After a few years, I returned to college at IVCC. It was at IVCC that I began studying art education. I knew that I enjoyed teaching others about various art techniques and methods so it seemed that art education was the perfect fit. After graduating from IVCC, I quit my job and went full-time to Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois to study art education. It took three years to finish the program at NIU. While there I learned about many art mediums and concepts and further developed my art and teaching portfolio. Finally, I graduated from NIU in May of 2008. Upon graduation I began my job hunt and found my place in education at Putnam County Junior High and High School! It has been a long road, but I feel that I finally have come full circle in my educational endeavors. I love teaching art and I still love to learn about new mediums and concepts every day! I hope to share all of my skills and inspiration with my students. I hope to instill a great passion for art education in all of my students. Hopefully my students are as excited to learn about my different art projects as I am to teach them!
