Haley Thomas
Well, hello! My name is Haley and the kids call me Miss Haley; super different, I know. I am a proud Pomeroy Pirate alumni, shout out class of '14. In high school I loved to play volleyball and softball. Although, I was never a very good athlete. I still tried my best though! Now, you won't catch me running a single step, lol! After high school I thought it would be super fun to galivant around the country for a couple years. I lived in Bozeman, Montana, El Paso, Texas, Clarkston, Washington until finally c ... read moreircling back and planting my roots right back where I uprooted them from. I have one son, a crazy 7 year old who absolutely keeps me on my toes when I'm not trying to keep up with the kids in the classroom. Between him my dog Charlie, and my cat Koda my house stays pretty busy 24/7.
Art came into my life in high school, when I realized that it was actually a super calming experience. I love sitting down after a hard day with a pencil and paper and just letting my thoughts run however they need to at the time. This is something that I deeply aspire to teach the kids. I never want to tell them exactly how to do something just point them in the right direction and let them find the rest of the way. This is something that definitely gets me some angry looks from time to time, lol! But I believe it is all part of the process.
I have always loved working with kids, I started working with kids when I was 16. My mom owned the LEEP center which was the daycare here in town. I worked there from 16-18 and then again from 21-24 which is when I got hired on as a para at the elementary school. Kids are my life, and I don't even know where I'd be without them. The fact that I get to see the kids every single day and teach them about something that I am very passionate about is such a dream come true. I could not be more grateful for the opportunity to love and teach your kids.
