I have taught art for the past 26 years, 19 of those at the elementary level. The philosophy I have always had about teaching art is that anyone can create art, but more importantly, it should be a fun experience that can be used to unwind and be creative while enjoying the process. Not everything artists do turns out, but with each attempt they learn what works, what they like, develop new skills and understand new concepts while becoming more creative in their artistic development.
