I knew in first grade that I wanted to be an art teacher. I thought the art room was the most magical place in my school. I followed my dream and I received my Bachelor’s of Fine Art and completed the teacher certification program at Eastern Michigan University. I received my Master’s of Teaching in Curriculum with a focus on arts integration from Lesley Univer ... read moresity. Previously, I taught in Portland, Oregon, and in Spring Lake, Michigan. I have been teaching visual art since 2000 and it continues to be my dream job! I am passionate about connecting students to the artist within. Everyone has an inner artist, even those people who do not consider themselves particularly artistic. By connecting the art curriculum to other content areas, student interests, and culture, students have an opportunity to find their visual voice, the voice that unites us as human beings. We will meet where each artist is individually, and build upon their art knowledge, connections, vocabulary and skill sets growing our confidence as visual communicators.
