Hello and thank you for visiting our page! My name is Brandy Boone and I have been teaching Art for Miami-Dade County Public Schools for 23 years now. I graduated from Florida International University with a Bachelors in Art Education and I also have a Masters in Reading from Grand Canyon University. I have always loved school and want to make school a place your children want to attend. In my younger years, I leaned more towards the Musical Arts because I felt I was no good at drawing. I even had a professor tell me, "Pencils were not my friends, but I was a genius with color. It was there, I realized many feel this way and when you feel this way, you stop yourself from exploring the wonders that Visual Arts can bring you like, positive self esteem, emotional regulation, and help improve cognitive function, just to name a few. Through my classes, I try to explore many different mediums to expose my students to the many different ways they can express their art. I also have a deep interest in Art History and try to include as much art history as possible. I am a firm believer that Art should be more about the process and not the product.
I love Artsonia because it gives students a safe way to be able to share their amazing works of art, boosting their self esteem and making them feel special. It is also a great tool for communicating with you, the parents, what we are doing in class. I hope you enjoy our gallery!
