Shauna Smith Hello my name is Shauna Smith and I teach art at Hawthorn Elementary South in Vernon Hills, Illinois. This is my 14th year at Hawthorn, but I also taught art for 3 years in Palatine, Illinois. I am a graduate from Western Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Arts Teacher Education and I have a well-rounded background in art having taken classes in drawing, painting, silkscreen, sculpture, ceramics, and art history. My goal in the classroom is to teach the students the fundamentals of art in a challenging and thought provoking way while stimulating creativity, self-expression and growth.
