Meet the Teachers  at Kegonsa Elementary School (Stoughton, Wisconsin)

Emily Wellentin I am excited to begin my first year teaching at Kegonsa in the 2019-20 school year! I have been teaching art in one form or another since 2005, first as a college TA for Beloit College where I graduated with a B.A. in Studio Art and then as the Art Program Coordinator for the Attic Angel Community in Middleton, where I designed and taught an art curriculum for the elderly. I was hooked! Working with elementary kiddos is the best! In 2018 I earned my PK-12 Art Education Certification from UW-Madison and started teaching art at Edgewood High School in Madison, where I developed a student-centered art curriculum. In 2019, I earned my 200-hour yoga instructor certification through Breathe For Change, a educator-focused program which centers on creating social justice in schools through social-emotional facilitation. I am excited to weave what I learned this spring into my art classes and create an art room where students are excited to experiment, wonder and express themselves through art! I live in McFarland with my awesome family: son Evan (age 9), daughter Autumn (age 6), husband Paul, dog Teddy and cat Athena. I LOVE reading, exploring nature, doing yoga and painting.
