Meet the Teachers  at First Flight Middle School (Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina)

Virginia Heinl I am the current Art Teacher at First Flight Middle School. I completed my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in May 2011, specializing in Art Education. Prior to this degree, I received my BA in Communication Studies from UNC at Wilmington and worked in the business world for several years. I learned a lot about corporate America, but found the creative aspects limiting so returned to school to pursue a career in the arts. I have always had a passion for art i ... read moren all aspects and have been involved in the art world since grade school. I am a strong advocate for sustaining arts in school and believe it is paramount for students to receive an education in the arts along with the "core" subjects. My artistic background includes basics in most media including drawing, painting, ceramics, digital media, and non-traditional crafts. Overall, I enjoy learning about different methods and techniques within a variety of media. For me, art is an escape as well as a self exploration and a means of visual communication.
