I have taught art at Dunloe Elementary in Groveport-Madison Local Schools since 2005. I graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Art Education degree and a Master of Arts in Art Education in 2003 and 2009 respectively. I was a student teacher during the 2003-2004 school year at Highland Park Elementary/ Harrisburg Elementary under cooperating teacher Sandy Bacon and at Bishop Watterson High School under cooperating teacher Lynne Shineman-Restifo. I also started my career as a part-time ... read more art teacher at Rosemore Middle School in Whitehall City Schools, during the 2004-2005 school year. As an elementary art teacher, I’m excited to go to work everyday and help students learn about art and art making. My teaching philosophy is that I believe art is about life, culture, and our world. Art is a visual global language for everyone. Experiencing art making and thinking through individual appreciation and expression benefits every student’s development intellectually, socially, and personally. Learning in the arts promotes problem solving, critical thinking, creativity, communication, and technical artistic skills. My goal as an elementary art teacher is to give my students learning experiences that expose them to a wide variety of artists, styles, techniques, and media through several modes of inquiry, which are, appreciation, aesthetics, criticism, art history, art making, integrating other subject matter and making connections to real life. My hope is to pass on my passion and enthusiasm for life long learning to my students.
