Hannah Hurst
Mrs. Hurst grew up on a farm, the youngest of three children, she was raised by an architect and a homemaker. There were chickens in the yard, sheep in the barn, and horses in the field. She was a lonely and quiet little girl who loved to sew. Hannah went to the University of Kansas where she studied art education with an emphasis in art history. She unfortunately suffers from a little bit of narcolepsy and slept through all of her art history classes. Mrs. Hurst loves art history and is mostly self-ed ... read moreucated in this department. She has taught at the K.U. Natural History Museum, the Lawrence Arts Center, the University of Kansas and Van Gogh Mobile Arts. She's studied photography at the Rocky Mountain School of Photography and has a Masters in Education from Baker University. Mrs. Hurst has taught in a smattering of schools within USD 497 but she absolutely loves teaching at Deerfield Elementary. Fun Facts by the numbers: Mrs. Hurst is the President of ONE Art Museum Board, the Spencer Museum of Art, the University of Kansas. Mrs. Hurst has TWO legs that have carried her through THREE marathons and she has THREE children. Mrs. Hurst skated on roller skates with FOUR wheels when she jammed for the Dreadnaught Dorothy's with the KC Roller Warriors. Mrs. Hurst held an intruder in her home hostage with only the use of her words and at least FIVE of those words were not very nice.
