Chris Hanley has been teaching art in Region One for 20 years. She earned her Master of Education degree from Southern Connecticut State University, and her undergrad from California State University, Northridge. She also has taught ESL throughout the northwest corner for the past 20 years. When she is not teaching, she enjoys painting in her studio in her home in Norfolk. She is the founder and president of Friends of Mekele Blind School, a non-profit that works to improve the impoverished lives of the blind children living at the Mekele Blind School in northern Ethiopia. She travels to Ethiopia most summers.
