Meet the Teachers  at Christa McAuliffe Elementary School (Shawnee Mission, Kansas)

Scott Urschel Mr. Urschel, aka Mr. U, is our full time art teacher, teaching Kindergarten through Sixth Grade. He has 21 years of experience teaching visual art at the elementary level. He holds a BFA degree in Graphic Design from the Kansas City Art Institute '82, and post graduate certificates in education from Baker University. He also attended the College of St. Hild & Bede in Durham, England, studying and visiting museums and galleries in Europe. Before changing his career to art education he worked as a Graphic A ... read morertist in Dallas, Texas (his hometown) in the very early stages of what was to become the field of Computer Graphics/Design. He later relocated to Kansas City, met his wonderful wife, Marilyn, got married, became an art teacher, had three wonderful children (Ben, Sam, and Molly) who have all attended Shawnee Mission schools.
