Emily Miller
Emily Miller was named Elementary Art Educator of the Year and Michigan Art Educator of the Year! Emily Miller has been an art educator for a decade, earning her degree in art education from Grand Valley State University. While teaching elementary art in Rockford Public Schools, she pursued a Master’s in Instruction and Curriculum and obtained her elementary teaching certificate. She now teaches Young Fives, Kindergarten, and 1st-grade art, inspiring students through creative exploration and lessons on past ... read more and present artists at Allendale Public Schools . Beyond teaching, Emily is deeply involved in the Grand Rapids community. Since graduating, she has remained active at GVSU, serving as president of the College of Education Alumni Network in 2015 and on the Alumni Board from 2016-2023. In 2018, she joined the Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts, where she now chairs the youth art and communications committee and serves on the board. Emily is part of the Michigan Art Education Association starting as a conference co-chair and has grown to be the sponsor and technology chair for MAEA. In her free time, she enjoys creating colorful murals and chalk drawings or teaching art at local organizations in West Michigan.
